CBSE board exam 2026 for Class 10, 12 rescheduled; revised dates announced – check details


New datesheet of CBSE class 10, 12: The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) has deferred the Class 10 and Class 12 examinations that were set to begin on March 3, 2026, citing administrative reasons. The board has also issued a revised timetable, rescheduling several key papers to later dates.

Which CBSE exams have been rescheduled?

The Class 10 examinations for Tibetan, German, National Cadet Corps, Bhoti, Bodo, Tangkhul, Japanese, Bhutia, Spanish, Kashmiri, Mizo, Bahasa Melayu, and Elements of Book Keeping and Accountancy will now be held on March 11.

The Class 12 Legal Studies paper, which was earlier scheduled for March 3, will now take place on April 10.

Why were the exam dates changed?

In a circular dated December 29, 2025, Dr Sanyam Bhardwaj, Controller of Examinations, informed principals of CBSE-affiliated schools that the exams were rescheduled due to administrative reasons.

The circular stated: “The examinations of the subjects for Class 10 and Class 12, which were earlier scheduled on 03 March 2026, have been rescheduled due to administrative reasons. The revised dates are as follows: Class 10 – March 11, 2026; Class 12 – April 10, 2026. All other examination dates remain unchanged.”

CBSE confirmed that the revised dates will be updated on students’ admit cards. Schools have also been asked to revise their internal date sheets.

What instructions have schools been given?

The circular clearly said that schools must inform students and parents and ensure that the updated schedule is shared smoothly with everyone concerned.

Students appearing for the board exams are advised to check the revised timetable carefully and plan their preparation accordingly.

When do the CBSE board exams begin?

The CBSE board examinations will start on February 17.

Class 10: Mathematics (Standard and Basic) will be held on the first day

Class 12: Biotechnology, Entrepreneurship, Shorthand (English), and Shorthand (Hindi) will be conducted

What will be the exam timing on the first day?

Both Class 10 and Class 12 exams on the first day will be held in a single shift from 10:30 am to 1:30 pm.
